About Our Recipes
The recipes on this website adhere to the philosophy of nutritional balance that is used in our clinical practice. The philosophy is largely based on scientific data establishing strong relationships between certain chemical balances in the diet and disease risk. The goal is of course, to help our patients prepare meals that have the optimum nutritional balance.
Generally, a day should have the following nutritional balance:
At the bottom of each recipe there is a breakdown of the above data. While some recipes do not appear to fit the above balance, their suggested use is in a meal with other foods to create the needed balance. For example, the Protein Soy Shake recipe has a 4:1 sugar:fiber ratio. We suggest, however, that this be combined with a piece of 100% whole grain toast with almond butter which brings the ratio down to 1.5:1.
Generally, when we recommend combining a recipe with other foods, we will indicate this at the bottom of the recipe page. We hope that you find these recipes helpful in enjoying your food, but with a healthy nutritional balance.*
