Laser Therapy Frequently Asked Questions:

A: It does not require the use of drugs or surgery, there are less side effects of risks, and it is quick and convenient. Studies have shown that it is equal to or more effective than other forms of physical therapy

A:  There is little or no sensation during treatment-occasionally one feels mild, soothing warmth, or tingling.

A:  The typical course of treatment is five to twenty  minutes depending on the size of the area being treated.

A: Acute or new conditions may be treated daily, particularly if they are accompanied by significant pain. More chronic or long-lasting problems respond better when treatments are received 2 to 3 times a week tapering to once every other week, with improvement.

A:  This depends on the nature of the condition being treated. For some acute conditions 1-6 treatments may be sufficient. Those of a more chronic nature may require 6-12 (or more) treatments. Conditions such as severe arthritis may require ongoing periodic care to control pain.

A:  You may feel improvement in your condition (usually pain reduction) after the very first treatment. However, each treatment is cumulative and results are often felt after additional sessions.  With chronic conditions, it should be noted that occasionally it takes a more extended amount of time before results are noticed since there is more healing that needs to take place.

Q:  Can it be used in conjunction with other forms of treatment?

A:  Yes, laser therapy may be even more effective when combined with other forms of therapy, including physical rehabilitation, chiropractic adjustments, massage, soft tissue mobilization, electrotherapy and even following surgery.

Q: Is it a Cold Laser Treatment?

A: No, the laser used has the ability to penetrate tissues significantly deeper than cold laser.  Although the therapeutic effect reaches deeper, there is no risk of damage to the tissues.

Q: Can Laser Therapy be used over medical implants or metal?

A: Yes, laser therapy is light treatment. No heating is involved of the surgical or metal implants. It can be used safely with no side effects.

Q: How can I get more questions answered?
